where the wild things are..........

I love the book where the wild things are. My students adore it, so what better idea did we have but to take our students to see the movie on opening day? We were all so excited! we counted down the days and put it on our class calendar and everything. So last Friday we all piled into various cars and drove to the theatre and all my kids bought their own tickets because that's our math goal is to learn how to make change. We always go on opening day during school hours because the theatre is usually empty and out class wont disturb people. (since some of our autistic kids scream and grunt for no reason) The movie disturbed our kids to the point of tears, not only was it boring, but it was violent and scary. They seem to have spent all their good sense on the costumes and the story was second to the movie. It barely followed the book, they made it creepy instead of fun and there were long periods of silence that were pointless and un-entertaining. My kids were ether turned in their seats talking to others, sleeping or freaking out during the movie. I was seriously sad and let down by this promising flick. Most of you guys have little kids so pre-warning: rent it, don"t spend massive amounts of money to go see it, especially if you have little ones because it"s not entertaining and they wont hold still. We actually had to send notes home to 3 parents because the kids were so distraught by this movie. If you guys want to see where the wild things are, just visit any classroom after someones birthday and they have been eating cup cakes! Trust me. kisses!

no problem you guys, I was pretty let down, further proof that a classic children"s book should never be toyed with. LOL
